Much like Carbon Steel tubular wire Low Alloy tubular wire is used to join most types of mild steel. The exception being a lower amount of Hydrogen in the content of the alloy. This keeps down oxidation and flaking of the weld. Available in diameters from .045" to .45"" in 37 AWS classifications and package sizes from 10 lb spools up to 500 drums, This wire is similar to electrodes in that the flux is contained in the wire and melts to forms a shielding cloud of inert gas around the weld. Flux core wire requires clean up of the bead similar to electrodes, and is not effected by the wind. Flux core wire has better penetration for 115-volt welders. Flux core machines can weld from 20 gauge steel to 3/16" in a single pass. Airgas is sure to have the correct ESAB® Low Alloy tubular wire for your application.
